Is THIS The Biggest Myth In Weight Loss?

Old nutrition logic has always stated that we need to eat 4-6 smaller meals throughout the day to keep our metabolism going.

Have you heard that before?

Well, luckily in 2024 we have made some pretty significant improvements to these theories...mostly by proving that they aren't true.

You see, the biggest feedback I get from those going through a period of weight loss is that they're hungry, or simply that they have a hard time feeling full.

When I talk to them about how many times they are eating, it's typically somewhere in the ball park of 4-6.

Breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon coffee/ tea and a snack, dinner, maybe even something before bed depending on the evening.

Not-so-common logic brings me to these two points...

1) If the goal is to lose weight, eating more times through the days provides more chances to over eat and whiff on a calorie deficit.

2) If you're eating smaller meals and snacks throughout the day, regardless of frequency, do those meals/snacks give you the chance to feel full? The answer here is probably not.

The good news? You don't need to eat more times to keep your metabolism going. Your metabolism is always going, it's what keeps your organs alive and well.

Glad we got that point covered.

If you're having troubles feeling full, focus on eating 3 bigger meals each day.

Do some math with me real quick.

Say my target calories is 1800 (I just made that number up for the sake of an example...), and I am eating 5 times a day. 1800 divided by 5 equals 360 calories. Now, you might move some calories around to have a couple bigger meals and then some smaller snacks, but are those small snacks going to really keep you full? Nah...

Lets say you eat 3 times a day. 1800 divided by 3 equals 600 calories...almost double! At 3, 600 calorie meals, with a focus on nutrient density and quality protein, you have a solid shot at feeling full longer.

I think the whole 'small meals throughout the day' was really just an idea to get people eating more in disguise...but that's just one persons (digital) opinion!
